Gulati – Artist Bio

I was born and raised in the fun-filled city of Mumbai, India. I am an Engineer(Mumbai University) and MBA (CT, USA) by education and run a financing solutions business with my husband in Mississauga, Canada.  I owe all the inspiration in my paintings to my daily experiences and observations in business and personal life. My paintings would be lifeless without these experiences. While I continue to run our business, I always find time to paint and express myself. ‘the Kanvas’ is my diary of thoughts.

I have lived and traveled in North America, India & Europe extensively and hence my work reflects a subtle fusion of the west and the east.

I am mainly, a self taught artist and have been experimenting with my work in various mediums. I’ve won several awards in state-wide poster painting & graphic art contests in Mumbai, India; and have training and experience in the fashion illustration. I’ve had training and certification in intermediate drawing & painting as a child. I’ve been an avid fabric painter, painting sarees, tops and Ts in acrylics.  Many of my fine art, ethnic paintings reflect my love of fashion illustration.

My paintings are also inspired by my public speaking. My objective with every speech is to convey a clear, concise message. Similarly, every painting I make is an effort to convey a clear, concise message……only without any words! At present, I’m inspired to paint strong motivational messages through my works. Every moment is an inspiration and I want to capture all my inspiration on 'the Kanvas' and spread it around.

I enjoy working with Oils & Acrylics on canvas or glass, oil pastels and I love to perfect myself with each medium and try new ones.

Overall Artist – Besides public speaking, I write poetry when it flows from my heart and I’m also a trained classical dancer

If you see through my eyes, we are all artists. Some of us are great public speakers, poets, writers, sportsmen or scientists. But, we are all artists striving to express ourselves at each possible step in life, only looking for a better medium every time. That medium becomes our inner voice. Try to listen to it.
